This is unbelievable almost an outrage at what bad parenting i have heard about. Mr. Bennet has let her daughter go to Brighton with the soldier regiment. This will not end well that I can be sure of it. Mr. Bennet is showing his inability to be a parent by letting his daughter do this. If i was Lydia's parent i could have the much wiser choice and not let her go.
I advised my father not to let my sister depart to Brighton, but he felt that she would never learn how to be independent or make her own choices if she did not go. I understand this reasoning, yet I agree with you; this situation will not end well. Lydia's affection for the soliders will prevent her from making wise decisions when necessary, but we can only hope for the best. However, my father will not be to blame if something is to go wrong, for Lydia is old enough to choose what is best for her and to know which circumstances have the possibility of danger.
